"My husband Michael and I decided very late during our pregnancy to have a Doula present for the birth of our baby girl Isabella. We were lucky enough to find Jacqui and even more so as we were her first couple. Having Jacqui with us throughout the labour was great for us from helping 'negotiate' with the midwives at the Corniche Hospital to simply being there guiding me with a reassuring word here and there and being an understanding friend - not to mention helping Michael ease my painful contractions with their synchronised hip squeezes! Jacqui has a special gift for what she does and having her with us to usher our precious baby girl into the world added so much more to what was the best day of our lives."  - Sue-Ellen

"I was so pleased to find that there were Doulas working in Abu Dhabi after having just moved from London and due to give birth in 8 weeks. After meeting Jacqui for the first time, I felt confident that she would be the support I needed. I discussed with her that I wanted as natural a birth as possible and two weeks before my due date Jacqui was on standby for the birth. On the day I went into Labour, I was visiting my mother in Dubai, so it was not the place that we had planned to give birth. Jacqui however still managed to make it to see me through the whole experience. I was in touch with her from when my waters broke at midnight, and she came to the hospital the following day and stayed until after the birth at 1am. I gave birth in a hospital environment, very different to where I had given birth to my first daughter in London. Having Jacqui with me was exactly what I needed as support for the labour and delivery. Her encouragement when I needed it and her quiet presence just knowing she was there when I needed it too, her help in getting me into more comfortable positions, were all conducive to making my labour and birth experience manageable and easier. Thank you Jacqui!"  -

"I decided that I would like a doula present during the birth of my second child as I was in a foreign country in which the medical system was fairly unknown to me, and also my first birth had not happened as I had envisioned; instead of being a natural, spiritual experience it turned out to be very clinical. On meeting Jacqui I felt sure that she would be a great support and enabler during the birth. She instantly put me at ease, and was also keen to involve my husband in the preparations, which was very important to me. I strongly feel that Jacqui's presence during labour helped me to relax and focus on birthing my baby, and her encouragement was a great comfort, strengthening my resolve when it weakened and allowing me to have the intervention free birth that I truly desired.Jacqui was not only a physical support by breathing with me through each contraction and carrying out massage movements to reduce the pain, but also connected with me on an emotional level. She managed to introduce humour into the situation and alleviate any doubts or worries that I had. She was also an advocate for my birth plan. I feel very privileged to have had Jacqui at the birth, and cannot recommend her highly enough." - Tanya

"When I was 7 months pregnant Jacqui agreed to assist as a doula at the birth of my first child. She also kindly agreed to design and deliver an antenatal program for myself and my husband, which would provide us information necessary for the delivery and first days after birth. She chose the topics and did all the research required to get a good understanding of what was soon to happen. We found the course extremely practical and useful. Both myself (who had read a lot on the subjects) and my husband (who was a blank page in this regard!) benefitted from her presentations enormously. We felt well prepared for making the decisions that were ahead of us thanks to Jacqui's knowledge and talent for conveying it." - Anna

"Jacqui provided vital support after I gave birth.  as it was an unplanned homebirth, I had to travel to hospital in an ambulance where third stage labour happened and I had stitches.  Without Jacqui I would have had to manage this on my own, as my husband stayed at home where our elder child was sleeping.  Third stage labour and stitches were painful and I was in shock, so having Jacqui to look after me made a huge difference.  In retrospect, I find it interesting that it did not matter that I didn't know Jacqui.  It is quite possible for someone you don't know to provide care, support and wisdom." - Lizzie
